Five Holiday DIY Gifts to Make

Here come the Holidays, and the desire to pick out the most perfect, thoughtful gifts for your special people.

The last few years, I have been drawn to simple DIY gifts, and supporting small, local businesses that I love. When it comes to gift-giving for teachers, coaches, girlfriends, and family members - curating my own little box of giftables has been my approach. I have a lineup of homemade holiday gifts, and I complete my gift with additions like a great local tea, a piece of unique jewelry, or a gift card to a top local food spot.

Last night I hosted a Holiday Make & Take with my doTERRA community. I can’t even begin to tell you how enjoyable it was to connect and share and laugh with everyone! Together we created five holiday themed DIY gifts, and the recipes are so good, I’ll share them here for you.

Each item is perfect for gifting, but you’re going to want to make extras and keep some for yourself, too!

  1. Immunity Honey

Honey is noted for its antibacterial properties and ability to soothe a sore throat. It is full of antioxidants, can help improve the digestive system, and boosts immunity. Adding a few drops of essential oils to your honey incorporates all of the health benefits of your essential oils, and adds a great flavour. Mix into a cute little mason jar, add a festive bow and a cute handwritten tag - and you’ve created a sweet gift for the health-lover in your life.

2. Merry & Bright Room Spray

Oils and water do mix - in this festive room spray that brings a merry and bright aroma into your home. I love this room spray because it uses common essential oils that you might already have, at a budget-friendly price. Sometimes, the really wonderful solutions are the most simple. I like to use glass spray bottles when I make these as gifts, and I always find cute labels for my bottles at Oil Culture Labels. This is a perfect teacher gift, or hostess gift, with a crowd-pleasing aroma.

3. Relaxing Bath Salts

Ok, this might be the most popular Holiday DIY, and one that you know the recipient is going to use. Have you seen those clear holiday ornaments at the store? They are perfect for filling with bath salts, and you usually get a set of them so you can make a few gifts to give! We all need to soak away a bit of stress, make it easier with essential oil infused bath salts!

When making bath salts, I always focus on the oils that lead to a relaxing, calm experience, and are popular aromatically. Serenity is always a hit!

4. Silent Night Roller Bottle

The holiday gatherings, the kids home from school, extra errands to run and places to be … sometimes it’s hard to wind down during the holidays. Before you get into bed, take a deep inhale of this blend, and apply it to the back of your neck, your pulse points, or the bottoms of your feet. Vetiver is THE oil for sleeping, and the warm aroma of Wild Orange compliments the relaxing earthiness of Vetiver. I use this blend year-round, so if you have any poor sleepers in your life, this would make for a very thoughtful gift.

5. Vanillamint Lip Scrub

The holidays are full of delicious treats, and this lip scrub smells and tastes like fresh baked sugar cookies. Brown sugar gently exfoliates your lips and coconut oil and honey leaves them soft and nourished. I chose to add Peppermint essential oil and Madagascar Vanilla essential oil, and I call it Vanillamint. A little bit tingly and a whole lot of sweetness. A nice treat to get you ready for that mistletoe ;)

All of these DIY recipes are available in my Holiday DIY eBook, which you can grab for free below. I hope you’re feeling a little bit inspired and a lot of confident when it comes to creating your own special homemade gifts.

Michelle
